Reprinted from Town Life Magazine©
Thomas James O'Gorman was born in 1909. He grew up in White Bear Lake and was inspired by its beauty and nature.
O'Gorman expressed himself by putting pencil to paper. In 1935, he designed the first Winter Carnival Ice Palace in White Bear Lake.
He married and helped raise a large family, owned a local architectural business (O'Gorman Plan Service), and designed many of White Bear's lakeside homes.
In later years, he passed on his knowledge to architectural students by teaching an architectural drafting course at Thief River Falls Area Vocational SChool. O'Gorman passed away in 1975.
Three years ago, his daughters discovered a trunk filled with their father's beautiful drawings and designs. They made high-quality prints of his work and for the first time, are sharing them with the public. The Thomas O'Garman Collection is available at The Nest in White Bear Lake.
